About the Program

The Economic and Social Development of Regions program offers advanced certificate and master’s programs to prepare students to understand, analyze, and intervene in the economic and social development of regions. The program is interdisciplinary, drawing on the fields of economics, history, political science, psychology, sociology, and urban planning. Graduates may choose to continue their formal education in a doctoral program, or move directly to a career in:

• City and town planning or management.
  
• Positions in state or federal government agencies.
  
• Work in nonprofit organizations.
  
• International development activities.
