Fire Protection

The Fire Protection Department is responsible for the maintenance, repair and annual testing of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, elevators, emergency generators, exit signage, emergency lighting and emergency phones.

This department also oversees large upgrades and replacements of existing fire alarm systems and elevators by outside contractors.

This department in conjunction with the UMass Lowell Police Department is currently researching the implementation of new emergency phone technology that includes a computerized self-testing feature and video cameras.
