Hello everyone and welcome to the spring semester! We wanted make you aware of the fact
     that we have instituted a message board system on our website. Just look under the "community" heading.
     We hope you find this new feature useful. You could use it to compare notes, discuss homework, or just chat.

          Before any of that however, we would like to hear your opinion on something. This semester
     we would like to get together a trip. The two ideas that came up last semester were the Bates Accelerator
     and the Haystack Observatory. You should find a thread regarding this on the message board, and everyone
     interested can vote on what they'd prefer to go to.

          Hey everyone, and welcome back to another wonderful year at good ol’ UMass Lowell. We hope you’ve
     had as wonderful a summer as we have and are fully prepared to hit the books again.

          So while you’re making that transition from a real research position back to a pencil monkey, why
     not celebrate your self-inflicted chaining with us in the SPS lounge with some free pizza? It’ll be a good
     opportunity for us to get to know the new people, and as always, an even better chance to avoid another
     unforgettable ARAMARK™ dinner.

          The party will be in the SPS room (OLG 2) in the basement of Olney Hall at 3:30 on Wednesday,
     September 15. It will last for at least an hour, so don't worry if you have to show up late.
     Feel free to bring your friends along -- the SPS isn't just for physics majors.
