Fall 2008
The Art Department at UMass Lowell has continued to grow since the first graduating class in 1984 when there were approximately fifteen students in the B.F.A. program. During the 1980s, the department offered both the B.A. and B.F.A. degrees with a total enrollment of approximately 80-100 majors. In 1995, the department began offering only the B.F.A. degree with approximately 175 majors. Enrollments began to grow dramatically in 2000. The department starts the 2007/2008 academic year providing a professional degree experience for approximately 275 B.F.A. majors.
This fall the department starts the academic year with ten full-time faculty, fifteen adjunct faculty and a staff of four.
Alumni/alumnae who would like to share their professional activities
with the UMass Lowell art department community can forward it to art@uml.edu. While we will try to include everything, the department reserves the right
to select information that is of interest to art majors on a space and
time available basis.
