Dr. Paul E. Fredette, Director CVIP at UML

Dr. Paul E. Fredette, Director of Commercial Ventures and Intellectual Property office, University of Massachusetts Lowell , was formerly Associate Director, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Office of Technology Commercialization. In his former position he was involved in mining, evaluating, protecting, marketing and licensing Rensselaer’s Intellectual Property with major responsibilities for developing and standardizing OTC’s agreements templates, training, intellectual property and overseeing marketing and market research. Additionally, he also served on the RAF research contracts and grants review committee responsible for reviewing and negotiating contract IP terms and conditions.

Dr. Fredette brings an extensive industrial background in research and development and domestic and international business development. His business development experience covers technology evaluation, marketing, market research, product development, business start-up and, also, includes domestic and international contract negotiations, joint ventures, licensing. His technical background includes combustion, alternative fuels, photonics, hazardous waste incineration and disposal, minerals and metallurgical processing, air pollution control and instrumentation, and energy and environmental management.

He has a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Lowell Technological Institute and an M. Eng. and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In his industrial carrier he has held several managerial positions including Director of Marketing and Vice President of Sales & Marketing. He is a member of AUTM, LES, AICHE, and AWMA.

Susu Wong

Susu Wong joined the CVIP as Licensing Associate in October of 2004.  Prior to joining UML, Wong was a senior project manager for Immersion Medical where she worked on the development of medical simulation systems with leading medical technology providers.  She has also worked at IBM Corporation as a Program Manager. Wong holds a MBA from Lesley University, and a BA in Liberal Arts from Magdalen College.
