A Research and Innovation Center to Advance Total Worker Health® Practice
Since 2006, CPH-NEW has studied how the Total Worker Health (TWH) approach can be implemented across several industries. This work led to the development of the Healthy Workplace Participatory Program (HWPP) and practical toolkits and education that help organizations make meaningful and lasting workplace improvements.
The TWH approach is a holistic framework for advancing employee health, safety, and well-being by integrating protection from work-related hazards with policies, programs, and practices that support worker health, safety, and well-being. TWH practice is grounded in shaping work and the workplace, to better support worker health. CPH-NEW's research and outreach activities embody these priorities and are guided by the following Four Core Values:
- Healthy Work Design - Removing upstream determinants of illnesses and injuries before they cause harm.
- Broad Risk Assessment - Identifying root causes broadly, both personal and environmental, to create effective solutions.
- Multi-layered Solutions - Collaborating across disciplines to address complex health and safety risks.
- Worker Voice - Centering workers when developing solutions to build organizational knowledge, collaboration, ownership, and commitment.
