October 2009
Dear Chapter Members,
It has been a pleasure serving as president of the Eta Omega Chapter this past 2008-2009 academic year. I have been working with the executive board to grow our chapter and keep our members informed. We hope you are receiving the National Chapter e-newsletters, along with our own chapter electronic news and mailings. In addition we hope you visit our chapter website. Our Chapter was fortunate to have received a Regional Excellence Award for this innovate website by the International Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau in the fall 2008.
President-elect Margaret Knight and I attended the National Chapter Leadership Academy last fall, where they presented VISION 2020: these strategic goals include being more global, building our knowledge resources, fostering leadership development, and focusing on service. Our chapter has been keeping in line with national goals as we continue to provide educational programs and social events for the chapter, induct new members, recruit nurse leaders and provide service. We were so proud this year to be represented by Val King, Brianna Norton, Katie Hutton, and Maura Norton as they participated in global outreach to Ghana, Africa.
The most important news for our Chapter is that we are celebrating our 25th anniversary and will be having a wonderful celebration to coincide with our Founders Day on Thursday evening, October 22, 2009, at Vesper Country Club, Tyngsboro, MA. Invitations will be coming very soon by mail, and we hope to see as many of you as possible.
We are very happy to have as our guest speaker Barbara A. McLean, MN, RN, CCRN, CCNS, CRNP, FCCM, a prominent nurse speaker who will present on global nursing initiatives. In addition we will be recognizing our 14 past presidents. We do, however, need you to come for this celebration to be successful. I look forward to speaking with you personally at this event.
Respectfully,
