Scholarly Interests

Dr. Houseman is interested in developing and applying statistical
methodology for environmental exposure assessment, environmental
epidemiology and environmental policy.  He has published both
methodological and applied papers in the areas of latent variables,
goodness-of-fit, semiparametric regression and clustering.  He is also
interested in studying new methods for the analysis of unstructured
data and applications to environmental problems.

Bio Sketch

Dr. Houseman received his bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics
from University of California at Berkely and his doctoral degree in
Biostatistics from Harvard School of Public Health.  He also has
professional experience in the areas of environmental consulting and
financial software development.  He held a research faculty position
at Harvard School of Public Health from 2003 through 2006 and was
appointed Assistant Professor in University of Massachusetts Lowell's
School of Health and Environment in 2005.  He currently collaborates
with faculty at both Harvard and UMass Lowell, focusing on topics
in cancer research, environmental exposure assessment and
environmental epidemiology.  He teaches courses on statistical
methodology at UMass Lowell, and is the biostatistics instructor
for Harvard School of Public Health's Summer Minority Program in Quantitative Sciences.
