Operations and Information Systems Department

Operations and Information Systems (OIS) is an important part of any organization that wants to compete globally in today’s business environment. The OIS concentration at the College of Management focuses on giving students knowledge to compete with practical skills via real-world assignments and projects.

 

The OIS concentration gives students the:

  • knowledge to effectively use Information Technology (IT) in organizations
  • knowledge to help organizations gain competitive advantage with IT,
  • skills and techniques to design and develop OIS
  • ability to comprehend the role of various information systems like databases, e-commerce, telecommunication and others in organization.

A concentration in OIS prepares you for a wide range of information systems professions, from IT Help Desk to Systems Analyst to a Chief Information Officer with salaries higher than many other professions.

Course Work

The OIS coursework is supplemented with an internship program, directed study and the activities of the OIS Club. Students are also encouraged to take computer science and math courses in their freshman and sophomore years to be better prepared for the OIS concentration.
