Stephen Collins is Associate Professor of Accounting in the College of Management where he teaches courses in both financial and managerial accounting. In addition to these broad areas, his fields of interest include management of colleges and universities, federal compliance auditing, and use of the microcomputer in business and education. He has written a number of articles and other publications on these topics, most recently in The Akron Business and Economic Review, Issues in Accounting Education , The Massachusetts CPA Review, Planning for Higher Education, The Woman CPA, and The Business Officer. He is also the author or co-author of: The National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) monograph on FASB Statement No. 93 (Recognition of Depreciation by Not-for-Profit Institutions); the Student Financial Aid chapter of NACUBO's College and University Business Administration; the Basic Financial Statements chapter in NACUBO's Financial Accounting and Reporting Manual for Higher Education; and the NACUBO Audit Program covering audits of federal student financial aid programs. Dr. Collins is a consultant for higher education institutions and accounting firms. He also conducted numerous professional seminars for college administrators and practicing accountants. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, Dr. Collins was an auditor with two large accounting firms in Boston, and held positions at Boston College including Director of Financial Aid and Assistant Professor of Accounting. Professor Collins holds a Ph.D. from Boston College and is a Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Teaches:
