The Francis College of Engineering Coop Program was designed to provide students with the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in the field of engineering in a real-life work environment. Through this program participants will develop ideas to sharpen their interests in specific areas, therefore giving them both confidence and motivation as they prepare for the transition from academia to the world of work.

The Coop Program provides a flexible vehicle for students to gain appropriate industrial work experience while allowing them to pursue their studies. A student may obtain three course credits (equivalent to one lecture course) for at least 500 hours of appropriate work experience as approved by the CEE Departmental Coop Coordinator. Students must write a report describing their work experience in order for this course to be considered complete. This experience may be accrued during the summer or during the school year.

To sign up for the Coop Program, students register for 14.491 Industrial Experience I or 14.492 Industrial Experience II. Only 14.492 Industrial Experience II may be used as one of the two required CRR Professional Electives.

Students may initiate contact with their preferred employers or may select from the employment listings on the CEE web page, which includes internship opportunities.

Employers wishing to participate in this program should contact the CEE Coop Coordinator: Professor Nathan Gartner.
