Scholarly Interests

His main research focuses on the experiences of individuals who belong to groups that are stereotyped as low in academic ability. Specifically, he studies the role of these stereotypes in students, interactions with faculty and peers, academic performance, and school retention. He is also interested in how students� achievement goals can impact the above outcomes.

Bio Sketch

Dr. Lawrence joined the faculty of UMass Lowell in 2004. His area of specialization is social psychology. He teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in social psychology, applied social psychology, and psychology of diversity.
