I accidentally deleted a file I've been working on for weeks?  What can I do?

If it is a Windows file, you might try having somebody with the local administrator password log onto to a machine you have used recently and seeing if they can find the local copy of the file from C:\windows\documents & settings\username\Desktop.

The best place to find somebody with the local administrator password is Olsen 312A.

If you login as yourself, the local copy of your profile will be synchronized with the copy of your profile on the server and the file will be deleted.

If this doesn't work, or if you originally stored the file on your UNIX/LINUX home directory, we can probably restore it from backup.  Send email to admin@cs.uml.edu with as much detail about the file as possible.  The ideal would be the full path to the file and the date from which you want it restored. For example:

"Please restore file:  ~omacneil/school/91.101/hw10/problem6_21. I accidentally deleted it this morning."
