Criminal Justice Student Society (Established 2000)

The purpose of the Criminal Justice Student Society (CJSS) is to provide the students of UMass Lowell an organization interested in the many branches of the criminal justice field. Members of this organization will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of club-sponsored events including but not limited to workshops, tours, and guest speakers. The CJSS is also interested in offering academic support in the criminal justice curriculum at UML.

The club was just formed at the beginning of the 2000/2001 year. The club is growing stronger with every meeting and will only be getting bigger as the year continues. In the future you will be able to look at our scheduled events, member list, and any other information on the club. We meet every other Wednesday starting at 6 p.m. See you at the next meeting, and keep an eye out for our updated page in the future.

Alpha Phi Sigma is the National Criminal Justice Honor Society. It is the recognized honor society for graduate and undergraduate students in the criminal justice field.

ALPHA PHI SIGMA OFFERS

• A membership certificate, membership pin and wallet care once admitted into the National Society
• Guaranteed intern positions at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA
• Scholarship opportunities
  

- Undergraduate students

o Must be CJ majors or have a CJ minor
o Completed three full time semesters or equivalent and 4 courses must be in CJ field
o 3.2 overall GPA and 3.2 GPA in CJ classes

- Graduate students

o Completed 12 semester hours
o 3.4 GPA overall and in CJ courses

- $ 40 membership fee per student

Applications are available on the bulletin board outside of the main CJ office, in Mahoney 214.
