Bachelor of Music, Magna Cum Laude, Berklee College of Music, in Performance, Master of Music from UMass Lowell. 
Privately, he has studied extensively with Lawrence Wolfe and Ed Barker of the Boston Symphony, as well as jazz improvisation with Charlie Banacos.

Mark Henry, a busy free-lancer bassist in the Boston area, has appeared as a jazz rhythm specialist for the Boston Pops as well as in the bass section with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra for twenty years. Along with solo doublebass recitals, his other credits include playing with the Boston Symphony, Boston Ballet, Boston Lyric Opera and in the pit for numerous Broadway productions such as, “Phantom of the Opera”, and “Miss Saigon”. His jazz experiences include backing up such jazz stalwarts as Scott Hamilton, Illinois Jacquet, Art Farmer, Cab Calloway, Diane Schuur, Mel Torme, and Maureen McGovern. As a member of the jazz quartet “The Jazz Pops Ensemble”, he has appeared as a guest soloist with orchestras all over the country.

Mr. Henry can be heard on numerous recordings with The Boston Pops, The Jazz Pops Ensemble and Boston Modern Orchestra Project. He is also on the faculty at Wellesley College.
