Nursing Adjunct Clinical Part-Time Teaching Positions

There are occasionally openings for part-time faculty positions.

Positions Available:  Instructors for Clinical Positions. Each instructor supervises approximately 6-8 junior or senior nursing students.  Sites for these placements would be negotiable.

Time Frame:  These positions are to cover a one-semester, 14-week rotation. Senior student coverage includes two 6-hour days per week (or some combination; i.e., 4 hours and 8 hours) and Junior coverage is 12 hours per week. Clinical occurs on Wednesday, Thursday and/or Friday, days or evenings, depending on site and instructor availability.

Requirements:  Must have an RN license, a Master of Science degree in nursing and relevant clinical nursing experience. Teaching experience helpful but not required.

Reimbursement:  $14,000, plus UMass Lowell adjunct faculty privileges including library and computer access.

Associate/Full Professor-Nursing (Tenure-Track Position)

General Summary (Purpose) of Position

The University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML), Department of Nursing, is seeking a full-time tenure-track faculty member in the PhD program in Nursing for Fall 2007. The Department of Nursing, fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, offers high quality BS, MS, and PhD programs. Nursing at UML has a proud history: the oldest Family Health Nursing Program in New England, the first MS Degree Gerontological Nursing Program in the U.S, the first PhD program focusing on health promotion, and the pioneer in the ‘blended role’ of the psychiatric advanced practice nurse.

The PhD program characteristics include a unique focus on health promotion, collateral studies at world-class institutions, student track record of extramural funding and publications, and a strong, vital partnership with a diverse community. UMass Lowell is a campus of the University of Massachusetts system located 30 miles northwest of Boston in historical Lowell, the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Earned Doctorate in Nursing or related field.
• Evidence of a successful record of teaching in a doctoral program.
• Evidence of ability to develop and sustain an externally funded research program, preferably NIH funded research.
• Ability to contribute to the PhD Program in nursing and to the DNP bridge program currently under development.
• Expertise in measurement of health promotion, behavioral research, healthcare policy, and management are preferred.
• Demonstrated ability working with diverse student and faculty population.
