Nutrition MinorAbout The Program A minor in nutrition can expand the student’s knowledge and insight acquired in some aspect of their major. Students majoring in any area of public health, health education or social sciences who have an interest (personal or professional) in nutrition are welcome to minor in Nutrition. Students majoring in exercise physiology have minored in nutrition as a way to better understand the relationship between athletic performance or increased physical activity and proper nutrition and to bolster the exercise physiologist’s work in preventing a host of chronic diseases including obesity. Students majoring in health education have minored in nutrition as a way to knowledge the knowledge they will pass on to the general public about nutrition and health outcomes. Students majoring in psychology have also minored in nutrition as a way to investigate more fully the relationship between psychological factors and eating disorders. Career Opportunities Also having a minor in nutrition can prepare a student for a career in the nutritional sciences, nutrition education or biomedical sciences. Admissions and Degree Requirements Prerequisite courses include Anatomy and Physiology, Physiological Chemistry and Human Nutrition. | |
