Programs of StudyUMass Lowell offers graduate and undergraduate degree programs in six different fields of engineering - Chemical Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Plastics Engineering - and undergraduate degrees in three different fields in Engineering Technology - Civil, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering Technology. All bachelor’s degrees are ABET-accredited except the new program in Computer Engineering, which celebrated its first graduating class in spring 2004. Engineering Technology bachelor’s degrees are accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc., 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD, (410) 347-7700. Graduate programs exist in Energy Engineering, as well as Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology. The Francis College of Engineering has a distinguished reputation for hands-on, practice-oriented education, cutting-edge research and integrating service and research into education at all levels. The College has strong ties to local industry, with many companies and government agencies in the region offering co-op positions and internships to students in all disciplines of engineering.
