Expertise: New polymeric materials, additives, fillers, economic evaluations, elastomers, and rheology.
Polymer blends and alloys, polymer modifiers and additives, dynamic mechanical behavior, and economic considerations in the commercial development of plastics.
Professor Driscoll has been a faculty member of the Department of Plastics Engineering since 1968. He serves as the faculty advisor to the Student Chapter of The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) as well as Coordinator, the Continuing Education program (Plastics) and the Industrial Internship/Coop activities. He was the past advisor of The Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (SAMPE). He is involved in departmental programs for alumni relations and scholarships. He teaches undergraduate and graduate students in polymeric materials engineering, polymer modifiers and additives, polymer characterization with emphasis on dynamic mechanical properties, and commercial development/marketing of plastics and related materials, products, and services. He is an elected Fellow of ASTM International and SPE; he also was inducted as an SPE Honored Service Member. He received the SPE's International Education Award in 2004. He has twice served as a Consulting Fellow to the United Nations (UNIDO).
