Campus-wide "Green Team" Formed

Chancellor Marty Meehan has formed a campus-wide "Green Team" whose mission and purpose is to develop a comprehensive Reduce, Re-use and Recycling Program (3Rs) that supports the University Mission PASTEUR toward sustainability through waste minimization and maximizing the usefulness of all materials expended within the University Community.

The goals of the Green Team are to:

* Raise the awareness and consciousness of all University Community Members through education, marketing, and outreach of the importance and benefits of recycling;

* Conduct comprehensive assessment of current solid waste streams;

* Identify programs and procedures that effectively and efficiently maximize the “Reduction, Re-use and Recycling” of products and waste;

* Encourage participation and environmental stewardship throughout the University Community';

* Develop procedures to ensure the purchases of environmentally preferred products in all aspects of university business;

* Identify potential areas for cost saving and enhancing revenue as a result of recycling and waste management;

* Engage the academic community in opportunities for research and curriculum development in areas related to recycling (3Rs), waste management and overall global sustainability.
