Bio Sketch
Nicole Champagne has been on the faculty at UMass Lowell for 14 years, since 2006 as an Associate Professor. She received her doctorate from Columbia University's Department of Health and Behavior Studies in Health Education. Her dissertation assessed the effectiveness of service learning in the preparation of entry-level community health educators. She teaches in the Department of Community Health and Sustainability and is the undergraduate coordinator for the community health program. Her teaching focuses on Health Promotion Planning, Communication Techniques in Health Promotion, and Holistic Health Promotion. Nicole’s research is conducted through the Center for the Promotion of Health in the New England Workplace, a NIOSH funded Center of Excellence associated with the WorkLife Initiative of the agency. Specifically, she is a co-principal investigator for the Stress@Work Project. This is an education and dissemination project that has been responsible for the development of curriculum modules and training sessions related to the integration of workplace health promotion and occupational health and the relationship between work-related stress and the development of heart disease and stroke. The audience for this training has been health-care professionals. Nicole has conducted seminars and training sessions for the Massachusetts Nursing Association, the MA/RI Employee Assistance Association, and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
