Bio Sketch

Dr. Peterson is an assistant professor in the Schools of Medicine, Dental Medicine, and Engineering and is the director of the Biodynamics Laboratory at the University of Connecticut Health Center. He offers graduate-level courses in Biomechanics, biodynamics, biofluid mechanics, and ergonomics and his current research work is focused on the development of laboratory and field techniques for accurately assessing and modeling human-device interaction and human and/or organism performance and response. Recent applications of these protocols model human interactions with existing and developmental devices such as computer input devices, dental instruments, musical instruments, sports equipment, and powered and non-powered tools. Other research initiatives focus on spacesuit and spacetool development for NASA, hand-arm vibration exposure, advanced physiological monitoring methods, advanced vascular imaging techniques, tissue engineering and computational biomechanics.
