Dr. Morse is a professor, ergonomist and epidemiologist in the UCHC ErgoCenter and Occupational Health Center.  He has extensive experience with worker education as head of two OSHA-funded training grants, occupational disease surveillance as part of the CT joint program with the Departments of Labor, Public Health and Workers' Compensation (and coordinator of the annual Northeast States Occupational Disease Surveillance conference). He is Principal Investigator on a NIOSH research grant investigating the characteristics of effective health and safety committees, and another study on the use of green cleaners in state agencies. He teaches and advises in the Master and Ph.D. programs in Public Health, and is chair of the public health Admissions Committee. He has been named the Director of the newly-established Chemical Innovations Institute at UConn Health Center. He has worked on other studies on the aging workforce, ergonomics, including the CUSP population-based survey, a cohort study on vibration, and the relationship of occupational health to patient care in primary care settings.  He has served as co-chair of the labor-based CT Council for Occupational Safety and Health and is on the scientific advisory board for the Coalition for a Safe and Healthy Connecticut. He has been an ergonomic consultant to prominent corporations including ESPN, United Technologies and many state agencies.  He is the current chair of the Occupational Health Section of the American Public Health Association and has served on the Board for the Connecticut Public Health Association. He has over 30 peer-reviewed publications, including articles on the under-reporting of musculoskeletal disorders and patterns of occupational disease incidence, and has coordinated extensive professional education programs for physicians and occupational health professionals.
