Bio Sketch Dr. Cherniack is a physician, professor of medicine in the UConn School of Medicine and director of the Ergonomic Technology Center. He has directed NIOSH-funded research projects in musculoskeletal disease and in hand-arm vibration. He has worked with the insurance industry on disability research and has directed a trans-disciplinary consortium, as well as participating in multi-center clinical intervention studies. He has developed and assessed instrumentation for field measurements of biomechanical exposure and physical response. His clinical interests are focused on upper extremity disorders with a special concentration on the hand and arm problems of musicians. His environmental health interests have largely involved the former Soviet Union, where he has worked on air both population and radiation health issues.
