Lowell Immersion: A Local Alternative Spring Break
Printer Friendly
Lowell Immersion began in Spring 2010 when 10 students were the first to participate in a Learn and Serve funded Local Alternative Spring Break Program. An alternative spring break offers a unique opportunity for students to learn, experience, and participate in the community through hands-on service projects. Our hope is to create opportunities for students to explore, reflect, and become immersed into the culture of their local community. Last year, students worked with Boys and Girls Club, Pawtucket Congregational Church, Walter Denney Youth Center and the Lowell Transitional Living Center.
This year, Lowell Immersion will run from March 12-16, 2012. Students who participate in the program will be hosted by a local church, and will have the opportunity to participate in several different volunteer projects. We encourage all students to let their guard down, and join us as we explore the community of Lowell!
