Materials Characterization Laboratory

Access to the CMCL facility is granted at two levels:

Internal users who are UML faculty or staff members and students have self-use/operator access to the instruments after completing a comprehensive user training program. CMCL staff is also available to internal users for technical support in conducting advanced characterization.

External users who are not UML faculty, staff or students, including academic and industrial collaborators and clients, do not have self-use/operator access to the instruments. Analytical testing requested by external users is performed by CMCL staff.

Training

A comprehensive training program is available for each instrument to provide prospective internal users with the basic operational skills to efficiently use the instrument and protect the instrument from misuse and damage. Please contact the lab manager to request user training on a CMCL instrument.

Fee Structure
A user fee structure is developed by the CMCL Steering Committee to ensure sustainable operation of the facility while maintaining efficient and productive use of shared research infrastructure. It also serves as a gate-keeper against excessive or abusive sample analyses and testing.
