Institute for Visualization & Perception ResearchThe Institute for Visualization and Perception Research (IVPR) is an interdisciplinary group whose research and contract activities focus on the development of tools, systems, displays and interactive techniques that enable individuals and groups to explore high dimensional and large data sets by visual and other perceptual means. Our goal is to facilitate and improve the exploration of various types of data, including massive, distributed and complex datasets. These areas we have worked in include medicine (clinical trials, high-through-put screening, drug discovery, crime statistics, network monitoring, satellite imagery, and homeland security. Our work - which is both theoretical and applied - draws from the fields of computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, psychology and neurophysiology. The specific goals of the IVPR are:
With its expertise in the areas of highly interactive visualization of complex data, including collaborative and distributed visualization, the IVPR can support information engineering activities such as management, analysis, exploration and development. | |
