Bio Sketch
Dr. Collins joined the faculty of the Department of Physical Therapy in September, 1998. His clinical experience was focused on general and cardiopulmonary physical therapy. Sean earned a B.S. in Exercise Physiology in 1992 and M.S. in Physical Therapy in 1994 at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and received his Doctorate in Science in Ergonomics at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, having completed his dissertation in job strain and cardiovascular regulation. Dr. Collins is also a Board Certified Specialist in Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy.
Dr. Collins has presented at local, national, and international conferences and is the author of a Cardiac System chapter in the Acute Care Handbook for Physical Therapists, edited by Jaime Paz and Michelle Panik. He also authored a chapter on Cardiopulmonary Anatomy for Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy, a text edited by William DeTurk and Lawrence Cahalin.
Dr. Collins is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, and the Research as well as the Cardiopulmonary sections, and serves on the Massachusetts Section Legislative Committee. He is also a member the New England Complex Systems Institute, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is active in the university community as a faculty senate member.
