How to print your work:
- We have a map that we have created in front us of, so lets print it:
- Select Window within the Word Toolbar.
- Next Select New Layout Window. (In the future you can just press F5).
- Now you are in the New Layout Window Box, select One Frame for Window (since we are only working with one window). Now select OK.
- Now we need to change the zoom of our layout window. You will now notice that the windows are cascaded. Maximize the layout Window.
- Next we need to zoom in on our map. This can be done either of two ways:
- Select the Zoom In button on the toolbar and click on our layout to get the desired zoom.
- Place the Mouse icon over the map, and click the right mouse button. Now select Change Zoom & change the % and click OK.
- NOTE: This does not physically change your work, but rather the zoom level on the screen so you can edit your work.
- Next we need to zoom in on our map. This can be done either of two ways:
- Now we need to change the orientation of our work on the paper.
- Select File within the Word Toolbar.
- Next Select Page Setup.
- Now you are shown the Page Setup Box, Within Orientation select Landscape and then click OK.
- Changing the Size of your work. Click the Select Arrow on the toolbar.
- Place the arrow over your map and click the left mouse button. You will now notice that your map has been highlighted.
- Now choose a corner and take your mouse arrow and click the left mouse button on the corner you have selected. Hold the left mouse button down and adjust the size of your work to the size of your satisfaction.
- Next we need to deselect our work, so move the mouse arrow to an area away from your highlighted work and click the left mouse button. Does your work fit in the frame? Are you satisfied with the orientation of your work within the frame? If not you need to edit your work, this can be done by editing your work within the map itself, to do so:
- Select Window within the Word Toolbar.
- Now choose either: Tile Windows
You are given two numeric values at the very bottom of this list, choose: 1. (maps that are open) map, not 2. Layout
- Now you can edit your map so it looks more presentable within the layout.
To get back to the layout choose either:- Click on the Layout Map to activate it.
- Select Window within the Word Toolbar.
- You are given two numeric values at the very bottom of this list, choose: Layout.
NOTE: The activated map is the one with the Blue Title Bar.
Feel free to maximize the Layout Window if you desire.
- Now we want to place a title on our map.
- Select the Text Button on the Drawing Toolbar and move the mouse icon to the area of your layout you would like to place a title or other text, and click the left mouse button.
- Type your text
- Now click the Select Arrow in the Toolbar and highlight your text by placing the mouse arrow over your text and click the left mouse button.
- Now double click the left mouse button (over the highlighted text) and you should get the Text Object Box.
- Modify the text as you please, using all the features of the Text Object Box, such as Text, Style, etc.
NOTE: Remember you can even move the text by clicking and holding down the left mouse button down (over the highlighted area) and moving the text to the area of the layout window that you desire. - Do you like the frame styling around your work? You can edit it by:
- Click the Select Arrow on the toolbar. You will now notice that your whole work has been highlighted.
- Now select the Region Style button on the Drawing Toolbar.
- Now you are shown the Region Style Box. Use the components within the Border box to edit your frame area.
When you are finished click OK.
- Next we need to deselect our work, so move the mouse arrow to an area away from your highlighted work and click the left mouse button.
- Now it's time to print so…
- Select File within the Word Toolbar.
- Next Select Print.
- Now modify the printer you want to send it to by choosing from the options within Print. When finished choose OK.
VOILA! YOU HAVE JUST PRINTED YOUR MAP!!!
