Printer FriendlyFounded in 1992, the Center for Advanced Materials (CAM) has become the focus of advanced materials synthesis and characterization at UMass Lowell. CAM is an association of scientists, engineers, and technicians encompassing a wide range of technical disciplines that overlap UMass Lowell's Colleges of Arts and Sciences and Engineering. The Center has been established as a multi-disciplinary research and resource center, bringing together state-of-the-art instrumentation, facilities and expert personnel. Its goal is the development of a knowledge base in the design, synthesis, characterization and intelligent processing of advanced materials, driven by the needs of potential technological applications. CAM adds in a significant and fundamental manner to the University’s mission in the creation of a sustainable industrial economy.
