Special Features and Opportunities
Birthday Celebrations
Many families have been celebrating a family birthday by buying a block of tickets (10 or more*) and making the performance the main party event! To make the occasion even more special, we will include the name of the birthday honoree in the program and announce his or her name from the stage with our best birthday wishes. Please tell the box office the name and age of the birthday child when purchasing tickets -- at least two weeks in advance or by indicating the information on the order form -- to guarantee inclusion in the program.
*Purchase of 10 or more tickets is required for inclusion in the program.
Group Benefits
Are you a Scout, a Brownie, or part of another group? We love to host groups and are pleased to offer group discounts (tickets are $10 per person) on the purchase of 10 or more tickets when bought in advance. Your group will appear in the program and be announced from the stage at the beginning of the show. Let the box office know the group’s name when you arrive. Also, we may be able to help groups earn performing arts badges – please arrange this in advance.
Gift Certificates
Give the gift of live performance! Colorful gift certificates are available for all shows. Gift certificates are great for the child who has everything.
Partnership Programs
UMass Lowell’s Center for the Arts is a member of WGBH Public Television and Lowell Proud to Partner programs. We’re pleased to offer a buy one/get one free ticket purchase for one show per season (excluding special events) for WGBH members and UMass Lowell alumni, faculty, staff and students*
*The Jason Bishop Show (October 5, 2008) is 1/2 price to UMass Lowell alumni, faculty, staff and students. No other discounts apply.
Become a Discovery Friend
Please consider giving a tax-deductible contribution to the Discovery Series with your order. Ticket sales don’t cover the costs of artist fees, stage staff, printing, marketing and other performance-related costs. A gift of $25 or more makes you a Discovery Friend, and your gift will be acknowledged in all programs throughout the season.
Is Your Child Ready for Live Performances?
Parents are often eager to have their children experience the excitement of live theatre. However, most performances require quiet and concentration: performers can hear and see everything going on in the audience, and all audience members must be able to hear the show undisturbed.
Readiness checklist:
- Will your child enjoy sitting quietly for an hour?
- Can your child understand the action on stage without ongoing explanation?
- Will your child be okay without food or drink (none is allowed) for one hour?
- Will your child be frightened of the dark or by loud sounds?
- Does your child understand that performers and audience members will hear them if they talk aloud?
We’re committed to creating the best atmosphere for an enjoyable, satisfying theater experience for all. For everyone’s sake, we ask that age recommendations are respected. No children under age two are allowed, and every person, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter the theater.
