The flexibility of the curriculum in Biological Science allows students who are interested in secondary school teaching to participate in a five-year program leading to the master of education and Massachusetts teacher certification. Students achieve competency in all required subject areas during the four years that lead to the BS in Biological Science, and then continue their studies in the College of Education for an additional year. A candidate successfully completing the program earns the graduate degree as well as the credentials to accept an appointment as a secondary school science teacher.
