MENTOR PROGRAM
NIRSA Region 1 2008 Conference
Attendees!
As the conference rapidly approaches, we would like to re-introduce the
Mentor – Mentee Program that has been developed for all NIRSA Region 1
conference attendees. The idea behind the Mentor – Mentee Program for
this conference is to enable members more networking opportunities and
develop professional relationships. We all feel that it is extremely
important for first time conference attendees, both student and
professional, to receive the most out of their NIRSA experience.
Furthermore, it is vital to us that all first time attendees feel
welcome into the “NIRSA World”.
FRIDAY LUNCHEON
For everyone that is interested in participating in this program the
conference has designated a specific time on Friday November 7th from
12:00-1:00 to meet with your mentor or mentee. This hour will be used
to get lunch much like the “take the student to lunch” utilized at the
national conference.
MENTEE
As a student or professional mentee you will be adopted into the Region
1 NIRSA family! Through having a mentor, this will allow you to have a
resource, a point of contact throughout the conference. We have
recognized that attending a conference or organization for the first
time can be slightly intimidating, so through introducing you to a NIRSA
veteran you will “learn the ropes” regarding what NIRSA and Region 1 is
all about! This is a unique opportunity, one that we hope you are
interested in taking advantage of!
MENTOR
As a student or professional mentor we are asking that you involve your
mentee in all areas of your conference experience. Adopt your mentee
into your professional circle, allowing them to not only develop a great
relationship with you, but with your contacts as well. Using your
knowledge, enthusiasm, and networking capabilities we ask that you
introduce “NIRSA” to your mentee. We will provide you with a short
checklist/guide of areas we would like you to cover with your mentee
throughout your time spent at the Region 1 Conference.
INTERESTED????
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BEING A MENTOR OR A MENTEE PLEASE EMAIL Mike
Croft:
mcroft@spfldcol.edu
Please include your job title if you are a professional and you desired
profession if you are a student. Additionally, include your cell phone
number and e-mail address. In the subject box of the e-mail please
put mentor-mentee program
