
The Office of Campus Recreation relies on student employees to fill a number of positions throughout the program. While many positions are filled with students who qualify for either Work Study or the Campus Work Program, funds are available for students who do not qualify for a financial aid work program.

Fitness Staff - Monitor the Campus Recreation fitness center. Duties include insuring safety of participants, making sure participants return equipment to proper storage areas, clean area as necessary.

Intramural Official - Students are trained to work as officials in a variety of team sports including flag football, floor hockey, indoor soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball and outdoor soccer. No experience is necessary just the joy of sports and the willingness to learn. To become an Intramural official, all you have to do is attend the official's trainings; we’ll teach you the rest.

Group Fitness Instructor - Students instruct a variety of group fitness classes including step aerobics, cardio-kickboxing and spinning classes. Click here for more information.
- Personal Trainer - Students are responsible for leading fitness orientations and workshops, conducting fitness assessments, and developing personal fitness programs for individuals and small groups. A nationally recognized certification and experience is required.
- Welcome Desk Staff - Students staff the welcome desk at the entrance of the Campus Recreation Center. Along with verifying the identity of students, faculty and staff that want to enter the facility, employees handout equipment, collect guest fees, sell memberships, register people for programs and disseminate information regarding the facility and programming.
- Water Safety Instructor - Students will teach Saturday morning swim lessons at Costello Gym for one fall and one spring session. Sessions are 8 weeks long. Will teach several classes throughout the morning. Will teach Red Cross levels 1-6 with an instructor-to-swimmer ratio of 1/5. Red Cross WSI certification and experience required.
- Lifeguard - Students to guard Saturday morning swim lessons at Costello Gym for one fall and one spring session. Sessions are 8 weeks long. Will guard vigilantly throughout the morning with a 5-minute break every hour. One guard to 25 swimmers. Red Cross certification and experience required.
- Fitness and Wellness Internship/Practicum - This program is designed to enhance students' classroom instruction with practical experience in the fitness and wellness field. Students from all programs of study are encouraged to apply. This position may fulfill educational requirements for some majors. Click here for more information and application.
