Camp Vision

RecKids is a recreational day camp for children between the ages of 6 and 11 years old. Our goal is to provide a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment where learning and fun can go hand in hand. RecKids is about youth development and helping our children realize the potential in themselves while at the same time building leadership skills, respect, teamwork, communication skills and social connections.

Sessions
Session 1: June 28-July 2, 2010 
Session 2: July 5-July 9, 2010
Session 3: July 12-July 16, 2010

Fees
Active CRC members, staff and faculty will pay $200 and $150 per additional child. Non-members of the CRC will pay $250 and $200 per additional child.

Snacks/Lunch
Parents are reminded to send a lunch and drink with the camper. Please do not send candy or gum, if your child has strict dietary needs please let the coordinator know. There will be a time for snack however, parents need to provide that. The concession stands will be open during camp hours and is available to all campers.

Necessary Clothing
Participants should come to camp dressed for a full day of activity. We recommend outdoor activity clothes and athletic shoes. Open-toed shoes will NOT be permitted. Campers should bring items in a well-marked backpack or athletic bag. Campus Recreation is not responsible for missing, broken, or stolen items. Please mark or label all personal items. Every reasonable effort is made to ensure property protection.

Water Bottle-Water is a vital component when physically active. Parents are asked to send a water bottle/squeeze bottle each day, labeled with your child’s name. Please encourage your child to drink water while they are attending camp.

Sunblock-Your child will participate in outdoor activities every day. For protection from the sun’s rays, we recommend applying sunblock (SPF #15 or higher) on your child, prior to arrival. You may also send sun block with your child. Sun block is most effective when applied one half hour before exposure.Swimming Gear- Please pack a swimsuit and towel every day marked in a labeled bag, gym bag, back pack.

Camp Staff
Our energetic and well-qualified staff is ready to spend an exciting summer with the campers. The staff is comprised of UMass Lowell professionals and highly motivated college students. The camp is under the direction of Devon Rembert who is a professional staff member at UMass Lowell Campus Recreation Center.

Camp Hours
Camp sessions are scheduled Monday through Friday with structured activities from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Camper drop-off is scheduled between 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. and pick-up between 4:00 - 4:30 p.m. If a camper arrives later than 8:00 a.m. s/he must check-in with the summer camps main office and be escorted to camp by a staff member.

Extended Hours
An optional Extended Day Program is available at a nominal rate for those campers who wish to remain late. Supervision and low energy activities are provided from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Additional fees apply for the extended program. You may sign up for the extended program with regular session registration.

Highlights
A variety of recreational sports and leisure activities are offered each session. The camp activities are very similar to those found in a physical education class. Campers are assigned to groups according to their age.

Swimming - We offer swimming every day for campers.
Theme Days - Campers will participate in one special event activity each session.
Crafts - Each session will include a make and take age-appropriate craft.

Parent Orientation
There will be a parent orientation on Monday June 14, 2010 at 6pm in the Campus Recreation Center (CRC). It is highly recommended that parents attend the meeting. The orientation will consist of a facility tour, over view of policies, networking opportunities and introduction of the staff.
