Club Sports

Did you play high school sports? Have that competitive edge? Club sports might be the place for you! UMass Lowell's club sport teams bridge the gap between intramurals and varsity athletics, allowing participants to enjoy extramural competition without the pressures of highly structured varsity sports. Clubs are student directed, with members being required to assume responsibility for organizing contests and fundraising activities, while also providing a great opportunity to develop leadership skills. Most club teams compete in leagues against other local and regional teams and some teams even compete in national competitions.

Purpose

Sport clubs are recognized student organizations that offer a unique campus experience emphasizing a specified sport or physical activity, student development and leadership activities.  Sport clubs are strictly voluntary and student managed and offer activities that are recreational, instructional and competitive in nature.

Membership

Membership is available to full-time undergraduate students.  Associate membership is available to full-time graduate students, faculty and staff.  Associate members may participate in club activities but may not hold office and do not have voting rights.

Sports Networks

Tennis, surfing and  cycling networks have been created to connect members of the UMass Lowell community who share common recreational interests in activities that are not yet recognized club sports. To join, click the above links.

Online registration is now available.  For more information, contact Liz Carr, Graduate Assistant for Club Sports at 978-934-2308 or Club_Sports@uml.edu.  Liz's office is inside the Campus Recreation Main Office, room 102.
