Center for Arts and Ideas - STARTS Program

What is STARTS?

  • Student & Teacher Arts (STARTS) is an exciting program created by the University of Massachusetts Lowell Center for Arts and Ideas. Now entering its 22nd season, STARTS offers a variety of high-quality, performing arts experiences for students during the school day.
  • All performers are professionals, carefully chosen from nationally and internationally known touring artist groups. STARTS field trips are fun, affordable and designed to provide a safe, well-organized and educational atmosphere.
  • STARTS hosts 35,000 students and teachers per year. The Center for Arts and Ideas is dedicated to introducing students and teachers to the performing arts in a manner which is both entertaining and educational.

    Mass Cultural CouncilThis program is supported in part by a grant from the Lowell Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
