Tech Alumnus Named CEO of Visteon

Michael Johnston '69 was named the new chief executive officer of Visteon Corporation in June 2004. Johnston has been with Visteon since 2000, serving as president and chief operating officer and has been on the board of directors since 2002. He graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Management from Lowell Technological Institute and earned a master's degree in business administration from Michigan State University's Executive Program.

One of the world's largest auto suppliers, Visteon is a former unit of Ford Motor Company. As CEO, Johnston has responsibility for the day-to-day operations of Visteon's business, including global operations, sales, manufacturing, product development, research and development and customer relations.

"Mike has demonstrated the leadership and vision to elevate Visteon to the next level of performance expected of a pre-eminent automotive supplier," state Visteon Board Chairman Peter J. Pestillo in a company press release. "His intense commitment to deliver results in terms of innovative products, superior quality and financial performance will serve all our stakeholders well."

With close to three decades spent in the automotive supplier and aerospace industries, Johnston has experience in manufacturing, product development, sales and customer relations. He has directed operations in North America, South America and Asia Pacific and has established a strong track record of delivering on business commitments and improving shareholder value.

Prior to joining Visteon in September 2000, Johnston was with Johnston Controls, Inc. where he was responsible for launching and growing new e-based businesses, including non-automotive, and using the Internet to support all phases of supply chain and logistics, purchasing, manufacturing, distribution, marketing and sales. Johnston also has experience in the aerospace industry holding various positions at Micropol, a subsidiary of Northwest Industries.

Visteon Corporation spun off from the Michigan based Ford Motor Company four years ago. It supplies consumer-driven technology solutions to automotive manufacturers worldwide and through multiple channels within the global automotive aftermarket. The company has about 72,000 employees and a global delivery system of more than 200 technical, mechanical, sales and service facilities located in 25 countries.
