Quality and Value


  • For Fall 2003, the campus received 20 percent more completed freshman applications and 13 percent more transfer applications than it had the previous year. This was the largest increase among the UMass campuses.
  • From 2001 to 2003, the average combined SAT score for freshmen rose from 1023 to 1093. In 2003, the College Board reported the average score for Massachusetts test-takers was 1038.

  • The annual cost for a Massachusetts undergraduate living on campus for the 2003-2004 school year is about $12,700. This is one-half to one-third of the cost of education at comparable private institutions.
