Dick, Mark and Therese Pandolfo

"We really did not consider UMass Lowell when discussing prospective colleges for our son Mark, probably because we live only 20 minutes away. When UML hockey coach Blaise McDonald showed interest in Mark for the hockey program, we were pleasantly surprised with the UML facilities and the quality academic programs. Mark had other college opportunities to consider, but decided on UML because the hockey staff emphasized the academic program as much as the excellent hockey program. After visiting with professors and department heads we recognized the tremendous potential for growth that would be available to our son as a student athlete. Mark is now in his senior year and, along with a number of other UML hockey players, he was selected to the Hockey East All Academic Team.

We have made friends with parents from Canada, Norway and Sweden, along with many other families from the U.S. All these relationships have enriched our lives as well as Mark’s. We are thankful to UML and the hockey staff for giving Mark the opportunity to reach his full potential as a student athlete."

Gifts to the Parents Fund are especially meaningful because parents have already made a financial commitment to the University in the form of tuition and fee payments. They know that these represent only a portion of the actual cost of a son's or daughter's education. The Parents Fund recognizes that annual giving boosts not only academic excellence, but also the total university experience.
