A Powerful Combination

Just as the mighty Merrimack River powered the Industrial Revolution, so the University on its banks is empowering the next generation of thinkers and dreamers, innovators and doers.

UMass Lowell is a world-class institution that creates possibilities for thousands of students each year. Several elements combine to make this happen: dedicated faculty who identify and develop potential; bright students eager to learn; an advanced learning environment to aid exploration; and an athletics program that builds community.

All of this, of course, requires resources.  We have carefully trimmed and re-prioritized the campus budget and engaged an entrepreneurial spirit to help ensure financial stability. But the state’s contribution to UMass Lowell’s operating budget has dropped steeply in recent years and currently makes up less than 25 percent of its operating budget. Annual gifts from generous donors, like you, have been become increasingly critical.

The Power of One—each gift makes a difference. The Annual Campaign for UMass Lowell will support four essential areas: student scholarships, academic programs, The Deans’ Funds and athletics. True power comes when these elements join to offer unlimited opportunities.
