Academic Engineer Endowed Scholarship (2002)
Created by Plastics Engineering Department faculty member Aldo Crugnola, this scholarship helps junior engineering majors with financial need who are involved in the humanities, social sciences or fine arts.

Acquarulo Family Endowed Scholarship Fund (2006)
Created by alumnus Larry Acquarulo '81, this fund helps students pursuing an undergraduate degree in plastics engineering.

Scott D. Adams ’90 Memorial Scholarship Fund (1990)
This scholarship fund was created by members of the Class of 1990 to honor the memory of Scott D. Adams ’90, a plastics engineering student.

Mary Curtin Alden Endowment Fund (2004)
John and Mary Alden created this fund to honor their mother, Mary Curtin Alden ’60, a career educator. These scholarships help students pursuing a career in elementary education in the Graduate School of Education.

Edward L. Alexander Fellowship (1999)
Created to honor the memory of Dr. Edward L. Alexander, a faculty member in the College of Pure and Applied Sciences, this fund provides fellowships to upperclass students in the Radiological Physics program who plan to pursue graduate-level studies.

Nettie Ginsburg Altshuler Memorial Scholarship Fund (1991)
Created by Benjamin R. Altshuler to honor his mother, Nettie Ginsburg Altshuler ’19, this scholarship fund helps students majoring in engineering, music or computer science.

Alumni General Scholarship Endowment Fund (2007)
This endowment is funded by alumni gifts specifically earmarked to scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to financially needy undergraduate students.

Alumni Reunion Scholarship Endowment Fund (2000)
This endowment is funded by all reunion class gifts. Scholarships are awarded to children of alumni of UMass Lowell and its predecessor institutions.

Michael K. Anderson ’75 Scholarship (1979)
Irving Anderson ’77 established this scholarship to honor Michael K. Anderson ’75, who died in 1976. Scholarships are awarded to applied music or composition majors.

Ruth Ashley Memorial Music Scholarship Fund (2006)
Multiple donors created this scholarship fund to honor the memory of music faculty member Ruth Ashley. Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in music studies.

Created to honor Jane Pankovich Austin, this fund supports scholarships for outstanding female student athletes.

Barnes and Noble Scholarship (1999)
Established by Barnes and Noble Bookstores, this fund awards scholarships to juniors and seniors with demonstrated financial need.

Margaret Holland Barrett Teaching Scholarship (1990)
This scholarship was created by Barrett family members to honor their mother, Margaret Holland Barrett. Funds are awarded to students in the Graduate School of Education who are pursuing teacher certification.

Boston Society of Civil Engineers/ASCE Bertram Berger Memorial Endowed Scholarship (2000)
Created by the Boston Society of Civil Engineers to support the civil engineering profession in Massachusetts, this scholarship helps majors within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Graduate School of Education Centennial Scholarship (2000)
This fund was created to honor the centennial celebration of the Normal School. Scholarships are available to students enrolled in the Graduate School of Education.

Savouen Chea Memorial Scholarship (2002)
Created by faculty member Linda Silka, this fund honors the memory of Savoen Chea, who worked in the registrar’s office at UMass Lowell. Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate students who are immigrants or refugee youth who have contributed to community service.

Chemical Engineering Scholarship Fund (2006)
An anonymous donor created this fund, which provides scholarships to sophomores, juniors or seniors pursuing chemical engineering degrees.

S.J. Chen Memorial Scholarship (1993)
This fund was created by the Dynisco Co. to honor S.J. Chen, a plastics engineering faculty member who died in a tragic accident while vacationing in Mexico with his family. Scholarships are awarded to plastics engineering students.

Class of 1951 Lowell Textile Scholarship (2001)
This scholarship, established to honor the 50th reunion of the Class of 1951, is awarded to children of alumni.

Class of ’54 State Teacher’s College Endowment Fund (2006)
This scholarship, established to honor the 50th reunion of the Class of 1954, is awarded to students enrolled in the Graduate School of Education, or the College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, music teaching and/or music education programs.

Class of 1956 Reunion Endowment (2007)
This scholarship, established to honor the 50th reunion of the Class of 1956, is awarded to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need.

Class of 1962 Reunion Endowment (2007)
This scholarship, established to honor the 40th reunion of the Class of 1956, is awarded to students majoring in education with demonstrated financial need.

Coldwell Banker CARES International Peace Scholarship (2002)
This scholarship was created to honor the Hanson family of Groton, Mass., who were passengers on one of the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. Employees of Coldwell Banker, the company that sold the Hansons their first house, created the fund to support undergraduate and graduate students majoring in political science. Preference is given to students who reside in greater Lowell.

C. Daniel Cole Scholarship (2007)
This multi-donor fund was created to honor the memory of C. Daniel Cole, a dedicated physics faculty member who died in the 1980s. This scholarship is awarded to a physics student with an outstanding academic record; financial need may be considered.

Computer Science 25th Anniversary Scholarship (2007)
Created to honor the 25th anniversary of the Computer Science Department, this scholarship is awarded to sophomore, junior or senior computer science majors with demonstrated financial need who are in good academic standing.

Conlon-Drauch Family Scholarship (2002)
Created by the Conlon and Drauch families, this scholarship honors Mary Conlon ’27 and Mary Jo Drauch ’59 by helping aspiring teachers enrolled in the Master in Education program.

Cheney Cook Scholarship (1998)
This scholarship fund was created through a bequest from the estate of Cheney Cook, a 1905 graduate of the Lowell Textile School who was president of Winslow Brothers and Smith Co. Scholarships are available to any undergraduate or graduate student with demonstrated financial need.

Jeffrey Cosiol ’67 International Merit Scholarship (2006)
Created by alumnus Jeffrey Cosiol ’67, this scholarship is awarded to an international student majoring in engineering.

Roger Cressey ’87 Family Endowed Scholarship (2006)
This scholarship was created by Roger Cressey ’87 to support the Dean J. Bergeron Model Leagues Program and to provide scholarships to students interested in pursuing careers in government.

Shirley M. Cyronis Nursing Scholarship (1992)
This fund was established by a gift from the Visiting Nurses Association Board of Trustees to honor its executive director, Shirley M. Cyronis. Scholarships support students majoring in nursing.

Jennifer D’Amour ’98 Memorial Scholarship Fund (2006)
Created by Scott D’Amour ’96 to honor the memory of his sister, Jennifer ’98, a UMass Lowell track athlete who died in 1999, this scholarship is awarded to a member of the women’s track and field and/or cross country teams. Jennifer’s Run, an annual road race held on campus, helps fund the scholarship.

Dandaneau Family Endowed Scholarship Fund (2000)
This fund was established by Jim Dandaneau ’81 to support engineering students. Each year, five scholarships are awarded to plastics engineering majors, including two scholarships to engineering majors who also play varsity sports.

Day Family Plastics Scholarship Endowment Fund (2006)
Created by Joe Day ’66, this fund awards scholarships to sophomore, junior or senior plastics engineering majors.

Dean’s Scholarship for Continuing Studies Students
The multi-donor fund was created to recognize and support students pursuing degrees through Continuing Studies and Corporate Education.

Roland Derby Scholarship (1967)
Available to sophomores and juniors majoring in chemical engineering. Candidates are selected by the faculty in chemical engineering.

Charles Dickens Endowed Scholarship (2006)
Established by Assoc. Prof. of English Diana Archibald, this multi-donor fund awards scholarships to English majors. Students must be in good academic standing, with preference to students with demonstrated financial need from Lowell.

James Alexander Dirko Scholarship (1993)
This multi-donor fund was created by Alexander and Laura Dirko to honor the memory of their son, James Alexander Dirko ’74. Scholarships are awarded to senior electrical and computer engineering majors on the basis of academic achievement.

Bryon Drigian Memorial Scholarship (2001)
This fund was created by friends of Bryon Drigian to honor his memory. Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in the computer science program.

John W. Dunfey, Jr. Scholarship Fund (2001)
Jack ’61 and Kathleen Dunfey created this scholarship fund to honor the memory of their son, John W. Dunfey, Jr. Scholarships are awarded to mechanical engineering students.

E. Dewey and Rose A. Dyer Endowed Scholarship (2005)
This fund was created by Patricia McPhail to honor the memory of her parents, E. Dewey and Rose A. Dyer, who valued education and helped make a college education possible for her and her sister. Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students with financial need from the Greater Lawrence region who are pursuing teaching careers in elementary education.

Eagle Scholarship for Women in Engineering (2002)
This fund was created by Frances Eagle, the owner of Blue Labyrinth Consulting, who earned master’s and doctoral degrees in plastics engineering from UMass Lowell. Scholarships are awarded to women enrolled in the Francis College of Engineering.

Eastman Kodak Endowed Scholarship (2005)
This fund was created by a gift from Brett Blaisdell ’76, who led a team of Eastman Kodak engineers that won the Global Innovation Award from Design News Magazine in 2004. The prize money was donated to UMass Lowell to fund scholarships for plastics engineering majors. Preference is given to students who have relatives working for Eastman Kodak, Clariant Masterbatches or Omron Corporation.

R. W. Ehlers Scholarship (1989)
This scholarship fund honors Russell W. Ehlers, one of the three founders of the Plastics Engineering Department. Scholarships support plastics engineering majors.

Dr. Salem Zack Elias Memorial Scholarship Fund (2001)
This multi-donor fund was established by Roasalind Elias Moghrabi, Mineera Skaff and Patricia Elias to honor their brother, Dr. Salem Zack Elias, a prominent Lowell physician who died in 2000. Scholarships are awarded to students from the greater Lowell area who are pursuing pre-medical studies.

FitzPatrick Family Education Scholarship (2005)
Created by Linda FitzPatrick, this scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the Fast Track to Teaching Program in the Graduate School of Education.

Freudenberg-NOK Scholarships (2007)
Available to students enrolling in programs in plastics engineering and elastomeric engineering. First preference is given to students living in New Hampshire with family members employed by Freudenberg-NOK. Second preference is given to students from New Hampshire. The scholarships are accompanied by summer internships at a Freudenberg-NOK facility during summer and winter recesses.

May Futrell Scholarship Endowment for Graduate Nursing Students (2000)
The fund was created by Dr. May Futrell, a retired faculty member who chaired the Department of Nursing for 20 years. This endowment funds scholarships for full-time graduate students in the nursing program. Preference is given to doctoral students focusing on gerontological nursing. Secondary preference is given to master’s degree students with a concentration in gerontological nursing.

Don Gagnon Memorial Scholarship (2006)
The fund honors Don Gagnon, a UMass Lowell student who was vice president of Student Government at the time of his death in the late 1980s. Scholarships are available to upperclass students who have demonstrated leadership in student activities and student government.

Gandolfo Family Endowed Scholarship Fund (1999)
Created by Joseph ‘66 and Sandy Gandolfo, this endowment funds scholarships for freshmen in the Francis College of Engineering.

Paul Gayzagian Memorial Scholarship (2000)
This fund was created by Doris Gayzagian to honor her husband Paul, who was a music faculty member at UMass Lowell for 33 years. Scholarships are awarded to senior music studies majors once they have been accepted into the Master’s of Music in Music Education program.

Robert Griffin Memorial Scholarship (1998)
This fund was created by Victoria Griffin to honor the memory of Assoc. Prof. Robert Griffin, a member of the English faculty who died in 1997. Scholarships are awarded to English majors with an outstanding academic record.

Mary C. Hall Scholarship (1984)
This fund was created by members of the Department of Mathematics to honor Mary C. Hall, who worked in the department for 20 years. This scholarship is awarded to a student who has shown the greatest improvement over his or her freshman year. The award is intended to be a living memorial of a gifted teacher, and to offer encouragement to underclassmen to work hard to overcome any discouragement or deficiency in mathematics.

Marguerite Myers Hartford Merit Scholarship (1998)
Created by Madeline Fallon in memory of her grandmother, Marguerite Myers Hartford, this scholarship is awarded to sophomore, junior and senior students majoring in political science, psychology or sociology.

William E. Haskell Scholarship (1985)
This multi-donor fund honors Prof. William E. Haskell. Scholarships are awarded to undergraduates majoring in civil engineering.

Eamonn P. Hobbs Endowed Scholarship for Excellence (2006)
Created by Eamonn Hobbs ‘80, the president and CEO of AngioDynamics, this fund awards scholarships to plastics engineering majors with outstanding potential who are interested in polymer performance or medical plastics design and manufacturing.

Hodgdon Trust Scholarship (1971)

This fund was created through a gift of stock from P.E. Hodgdon, the chairman and president of Deerfield Glassine Co. Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in chemical engineering.

Richard Hoeske Endowed Scholarship Fund (2006)
The fund was created by Richard Hoeske ’66, vice president of Engineering at Nypro, Inc. Scholarships are awarded to plastics engineering majors based on academics.

Charles J. Hoff Scholarships (1991)
This fund was created by Charles ’66 and Josephine Hoff to provide financial assistance to motivated students who are serious about their education and are in need of financial aid. These scholarships, which have helped thousands of students afford a college education, cover up to full tuition for sophomores, juniors, and seniors in Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Health & Environment and Management.

Mary Frances Hogan ’26 Scholarship (2000)
This multi-donor fund was created to honor the 90th birthday of Mary Frances Hogan ’26. Scholarships are awarded to students in the Graduate School of Education with a strong academic record and a commitment to teaching. Preference is given to students who are current teachers at, or who have graduated from, the Bartlett School in Lowell.

Robert Hogan Memorial Scholarship Fund (2006)
This fund was created to honor the memory of Robert Hogan ’75. Scholarships awarded to students studying "Surveying," which is a civil engineering subject. Contact: Chairperson of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

William T. Hogan Endowed Scholarship Fund (2007)
This multi-donor fund honors Chancellor William T. Hogan, who led UMass Lowell for 30 years before he retired in 2006. Scholarships are awarded to sophomores, juniors or seniors with financial need and in good academic standing. Preference is given to students who attended Lowell High School or who are residents of Lowell.

Honors Program Scholarship Endowment
This fund provides merit-based awards to students enrolled in the Honors Program who have demonstrated commitment to community service as well as a clear purpose for pursuing an honors degree.

Russell Weeks Hook ’05 Scholarship (1966)
Created through a bequest from Russell Weeks ’05, this fund awards scholarships to undergraduates majoring in chemistry based on academic achievement and financial need.

Gregg T. Hughes Memorial Scholarship (1996)
This fund was created by Thomas Hughes ’64 to honor the memory of his son Gregg. Scholarships are awarded to engineering students.

Dean Richard W. Ivers Memorial Scholarship (2003)
Created by William ’70 and Laurie ’70 McWeeney, this fund honors the memory of Dean Richard W. Ivers, who was dean of students at the University during the 1960s. Scholarships are awarded to freshmen who are resident of Massachusetts with strong high school grades.

Michael Johnston Endowed Scholarship (2007)
This fund was created by Michael Johnson ’69, chairman of Visteon Corporation. Scholarships are awarded to juniors or seniors with demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to students non-traditional students with families and and/or dependents to support who are pursuing an undergraduate engineering degree with a business minor.

Kennedy Family Merit Scholarship (2006)
Created by John F. Kennedy ’70, this fund awards scholarships to science undergraduates based on merit and financial need.

Bernard J. Killion Memorial Scholarship (1999)
This fund was created to honor the memory of Bernard J. Killion. Scholarships are awarded to students in engineering and/or a science that is dealing with energy issues.

Leo F. King Scholarship (1997)
This multi-donor fund was created to honor Dean of Students Leo F. King who worked at UMass Lowell for 28 years before his retirement in 1996. Scholarships are awarded to non-traditional students who have been out of high school for a minimum of five years.

Brian Kinney Memorial Scholarship (2002)
This fund was created by PriceWaterhouseCooper to honor its employee Brian Kinney ’95, a passenger on one of the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. Kinney was manager of Global Risk Management Solutions in the company’s Boston office. Scholarships support accounting majors.

Socrates Lagios Memorial Endowed Scholarship (2004)
Created to honor the legacy of Dr. Socrates Lagios, a Newton South High School English teacher who died in 1993, this fund supports students in the Graduate School of Education who plan to teach high school English.

Dr. Lanseigne-Case Scholarship (2003)
This fund honors Constance Lanseigne-Case, a retired educator. Scholarships are awarded to master’s degree candidates in the Graduate School of Education who specialize in reading and language arts.

Created by Ehud Laska ’75, president of InterBank Companies, this fund awards scholarships to engineering students who have an interest in entrepreneurship.

Created by Donald LaTorre ’59, president of L&G Management Consultants, this endowment supports scholarships for sciences majors.

Created by Russell LeClaire ’67, vice president of development at Computer Associates International, this endowment supports physics majors.

Lefebvre Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund (2001)
This fund honors the memory of Marc E. Lefebvre, a 31-year employee of Raytheon who died in 1986. Scholarships are awarded to applied sciences, management or engineering majors who embody the spirit of Lefebvre, a hard worker who saved for the future and had strong moral values.

Mark Levine Sound Recording Technology Endowed Scholarship (2007)
Named for Mark Levine, UMass Lowell’s director of community service who died in 2005, this fund supports graduate students in the Sound Recording Technology program.

Mark Levine Summer Symphonic Band Camp Endowed Scholarship (2007)
Created through a bequest by Mark Levine, UMass Lowell’s director of community service who died in 2005, this endowment funds scholarships for high school students with financial need who attend Summer Symphonic Band Camp.

Shalin Liu Award for Academic Excellence in Nursing
Created by Shalin Liu, president of Summer Star Foundation for Nature, Art and Humanities, this fund supports the nursing student with the highest GPA at the end of his or her freshman year.

Lowell Sun Charities Scholarship (1963)
This fund, established by the Lowell Sun Charities, provides scholarships to residents of Lowell and adjacent area who have financial need.

Robert S. Loya Memorial Scholarship (1998)
This fund was created by Frank and Judy Loya to honor the memory of their son, Robert, a gifted percussionist who died in 1995. Scholarships are awarded to music students specializing in percussion.

Robert and Donna Manning Endowed Management and Nursing Scholarships (2005)
Created by Robert ’84 and Donna ’84 Manning, this fund supports scholarship for nursing and management majors. Robert is CEO of MFS Investment Management, and chairman of the University of Massachusetts Board of Trustees, and Donna is an oncology specialist.

Catherine J. McArdle ’35 Endowed Scholarship Fund (2006)
This fund was created through an estate gift of Catherine J. McArdle ’35, for many years a teaching principal at the former Rogerson School in Lowell. Scholarships support students with financial need who are studying for a master’s degree in educational administration with licensure as a school principal.

McDonough Family Scholarship Endowment for Plastics Engineering Students (2003)
Created by James McDonough ’76, this fund supports plastics engineering majors.

Millie McGuire Scholarship
This fund was created by the Northern New England Chapter of the Society for Technical Communicators to honor the founder and past president of the chapter, Millie McGuire. Scholarships are awarded to a student enrolled in the Technical Writing Certificate Program. The recipient is selected by the scholarship committee of the Northern New England Society for Technical Communication in conjunction with the University.
