The Spinolas: Giving to Art, Scholarship and Families

The art gallery that will be the showpiece of the new Allen House, which in turn will be a jewel of the UMass Lowell South Campus, is the gift of a couple whose reasons for giving it have less to do with art than simple civic pride. “Mary Jo is from Lowell,” Frank Spinola says of his wife of nearly 40 years. “She grew up there, and still feels some attachment to it. It just seemed that an art gallery would be an ideal way to make a real difference in the quality of life in town.”
