Mary Jo Leahey Symphonic Band Camp Concert
Chancellor Marty Meehan will narrate a special concert band work “JFK in Memoriam” at the finale concert of the Mary Jo Leahy Symphonic Band Camp in Durgin Hall. More than 100 high school students will present what they've learned from this innovative, week-long overnight camp. Under the direction of executive director Deb Huber '89, the camp has helped hundreds of participants broaden their musical experience. Come honor the camp's original benefactor, Mary Jo Leahey '37, and stay for the cookout following. RSVP by July 10. Tickets are $25 and a portion of the proceeds will go to band camp scholarships. Chamberas Memorial Golf Tournament
The Thomas Chamberas Memorial Golf Tournament, which benefits the UMass Lowell cross country and track and field program, will be held at the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, N.H. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. in a four-person scramble format. Cost is $150 per person, which includes greens fees, golf cart, luncheon, a silent auction and prizes. Non-golfers will be admitted for $40. Get registration forms at www.goriverhawks.com.
Crew Alumni Rowing Day
Second-annual gathering of alumni rowers from Lowell Tech, University of Lowell and UMass Lowell. Reconnect with the folks you rowed with "back in the day" for a fun row up the Merrimack and then a 500-meter race. Family are invited for the BBQ (but only alumni can row).
