In addition to the Fast Track teacher certification program offered by the Graduate School of Education, there are nearly two dozen undergraduate majors that offer a combined bachelor’s/master’s degree program. A list of participating departments appears in the Graduate Catalog.
BS/MS programs are designed to streamline administrative and academic requirements to help students get the education they need for complex careers. Having both a bachelor's and master's degree makes graduates more competitive in the job market.
BS/MS applicants with a 3.0 or higher GPA may qualify to have both the Graduate Record Exam and graduate application fee waived. Some departments enable participants to count graduate courses taken in their senior year toward both degrees. Teaching and research assistantships are available once a student has earned a bachelor’s degree.
Students interested in pursuing a bachelor’s/master’s combined program should contact the department’s Graduate Coordinator as early as their sophomore year in order to receive the most benefit from advising on course selection.
More complete information is available in the Graduate Catalog.
