All the students I’ve met are really happy to be here – that was not my experience at my former university at all. There’s more student life here. The Rec. Center is great – I work out a lot and I love to play ping pong and pool. There’s always something going on there. And I love being at a hockey school – we play in a great league.
I started college at Drexel University in Philadelphia. They have a good information systems program and I really liked it there, but it was out of my reach financially. I owed $10,000 at the end of the first semester, so my debt when I graduated would have been huge.
When I decided to look around at public universities, I discovered what a good MIS program Lowell has. The whole College of Management is nationally accredited, which really impressed me. The professors are really nice here. They’re good teachers.
The cost is much lower at UML than it was at Drexel. But there are others ways the whole money thing is better – like work study here paying $10 an hour. That’s three dollars per hour higher than my girlfriend makes working retail at the mall.
