I transferred here, and the first thing about UMass Lowell I liked was the small class sizes. The student-to-professor ratio is really great. I can directly ask questions. In my other school, professors just gave lectures with Power Point slides. Here I’m learning more.
It’s very hands-on. I get to use the instrumentation, and I have better resources to learn here. The people in Career Services prepared me with better interview skills and helped with my resume, and that helped me get my internship.
There are a lot of student organizations here that offer opportunities. I heard about my internship through SHPE. There’s also LASA, ASAO and VSA, they offer opportunities.
[UMass] Lowell is very receptive to diversity. Everyone is open to all different backgrounds. I have people of all ages in my classes, some are married, some have kids-that’s not really typical of all universities.
