Transferable Credits
A transfer student is defined as a student who has attended an institution of higher education and has received credits that may count toward a baccalaureate degree. Status at UMass Lowell is determined by the number of transferable credits.

The University of Massachusetts Lowell intends to maintain flexibility in the transfer of qualified students. Students should indicate the major they intend to pursue. The number of transfer students accepted to each degree program will be determined by existing vacancies in the department. Students should be advised that transfer credits accepted by the University may not be applicable to certain majors. Auditions are required of incoming music majors.

Please check our new transfer dictionary to compare your college courses to UMass Lowell course equivalencies.

For program curricula, please check Requirements by Major.

UML works continuously to clarify and enact Articulation Agreements with the state’s community colleges. Students transferring into UMass Lowell from a Massachusetts Community College may also be eligible to participate in the Joint Admissions Program, which gives you provisional acceptance into a state college or UMass campus when you enroll at a Massachusetts Community College.
