Federal Stimulus Student Fee Rebate

You may already know that the University of Massachusetts may receive additional funds from the State’s allocation of the Federal Stimulus in order to enable rebate of part of the student fees during the upcoming academic year. Only in-state undergraduate students qualify for the potential rebate.

Below is an overview. For complete details, read the FAQ's.

  • In-State undergraduate students who do not receive financial aid may receive a rebate of up to $1,100. Such a rebate can be either a credit to their unpaid bill or a refund if the bill is paid fully.
  • In-State undergraduate students who receive financial aid may see an adjustment to their financial aid award. It is critical to understand that these adjustments may not result in a change in their net cost of education.  Rather, the change would be in the specifics of the financial aid package.
  • It is important to note that this rebate may occur only after the campus receives stimulus funds. We cannot determine the specific amount of the fee rebate until funding is received from the State.
  • If you should have questions, please call our fee rebate information line at 978-934-3755, read the FAQ's or you can email: fee_rebate@uml.edu.

We remain committed to providing the highest quality education at the most affordable cost. The $1,500 fee increase, announced last spring, allowed us to maintain the high quality of our programs. In these challenging economic times, we are hopeful that we may be able to provide partial rebate as described above through Stimulus funds.
