About WUML

WUML is a public radio station broadcasting from the University of Massachusetts Lowell . Located at 91.5 on the FM dial, the radio station’s license is held by the University of Massachusetts for use by the Lowell campus.

Broadcasting at 1400 watts from a tower atop Fox Hall on Pawtucket Street in Lowell, the station broadcasts 24 hours per day to the Merrimack Valley, and is available worldwide on the Internet.

In keeping with the overall UMass Lowell mission, WUML not only provides entertainment and information, but is a vehicle for education and outreach to the community.

Through both student-produced programming, as well as faculty and staff-directed internships,  UMass students gain hands-on experience in radio broadcasting at WUML. This learning includes a grounding in technical skills, on-air broadcasting, radio production, and many other related areas such as writing, marketing, and Internet communications.

Additionally, through university-produced public affairs programming as well as community-produced programming, UMass Lowell shares this broadcasting resource with the community.

WUML is managed by the Broadcast and Student Media Center, whose mission is to provide experiential learning experiences to students in broadcast, print, and Internet media, and to connect these activities with community partners as much as possible.
